Flowin: Friction fitness

Flowin has developed a frictional training concept targeting stability, mobility, strength, balance, speed, and power.

The Flowin plate uses friction between pads and plate to activate several muscle groups. The set-up with pads allows exercises to be performed using elbows and knees or hands and feet and the workout can be adjusted according to ability.

It is suitable for people recovering from injury or having persisting joint problems like osteoarthritis and can be used in physiotherapy and health and fitness settings.

The pad and plate friction has been optimised for a safe yet effective motion, which the exerciser is able to use by altering the amount of applied pressure on the pads. It is designed to offer virtually no physical stress due to resistance controlled friction.

The user controls the workout and the outcome of it by using a combination of load (friction with pressure on the plate, number of support points, support point placement, and distance between support points) and movement (number of sets and reps, speed, range of motion and use of static stabilisation).
